National Volunteers Week - Chris Reston
Published Wed 20 May 2026

This week is National Volunteer Week, and to celebrate, Squash WA is highlighting some of the most important members of our community—our volunteers! Today, we're highlighting Chris Reston from the Mirrabooka Squash Club!
You can always be sure that Chris will appear at events, whether playing or not, to lend a hand in the kitchen, coach her fellow squashies, and/or share a kind word and laugh with anyone.
Chris spent countless hours in the canteen during the Australian Masters Championships and then Country Week late last year. Whether she was cooking, buttering bread, chopping food, keeping an eagle-eye on the tea/coffee station, or simply washing dishes and cutlery so other volunteers didn’t have to worry about it, Chris was there, sleeves rolled up, getting stuck in.
While playing in pretty much all tournaments available, Chris is often seen supporting others with a well-deserved cold Prosecco in hand.
Chris is one of the kindest people you’ll ever meet, and is the type of personality that our sport needs. She is caring, welcoming, and has a fantastic sense of humour. Chris is often found sharing fond memories about squash in decades gone by, keeping the sport’s rich history alive.
Known to many in the community as ‘squash mum’, Chris is a true treasure which is why Mirrabooka Squash Club nominated her for the Squash WA 2025 Volunteer of the Year.
