Geoff Hunt and Sarah Fitz-Gerald at the Broome Invitational
Published Mon 01 Jun 2026
As you may have seen, two very special guests in Geoff Hunt AM MBE and Sarah Fitzgerald AM took part in the fun and games at the 2026 Broome Invitational. Geoff and Sarah were kind enough to share their experience with us.
You guys are champions, thank you for spending time with our WA community and getting to know so many people that look up to you both.
It was my second visit to the Broome Invitational and it was an honour to be part of it. I loved being a guest of the 10 year celebration alongside Geoff Hunt, Brett Martin and Melissa Martin.
It was great to see so many players once again from all over WA who I've met over the years of travelling around installing and renovating courts, or I had played against, but also those who competed from NT, VIC and QLD as the reputation of the Broome Invitational continues to grow.
Broome never disappoints; importantly, I even managed to get on court with the kids, squeeze in some sights, a swim at Cable Beach, do a radio interview, a little shopping, visit some local establishments and watch the finals which were all played in such good spirits.
Bridgy, Sue and the crew do such a fantastic job ensuring the event is about having fun, good squash and focus especially on socialising.
Thank you Broome….I hope to return again soon.
Sarah
A few weeks ago I returned from a trip to Broome where I was invited to attend the Broome Invitational tournament with my wife Irene. It was a fabulous week all round. Tournament organiser Glenn “Bridgey” Bridgeman along with the club ensured we were looked after like royalty. It was nice to see Sarah Fitz-gerald plus Brett and Melissa Martin at the event as well.
We went on a few great local tours and saw a lot of Broome and its surrounds. It was perhaps the best local tournament I have attended with a fantastic finals day of squash, fun, food and beverages. The week culminated with a beautiful seafood dinner on the beach at sunset with Bridgey showing his excellent culinary skills.
Thank you Bridgy and the Broome club for the wonderful week.
Geoff
