Country Week - 60 Years of AWESOMENESS!!!

Published Fri 02 Oct 2026

Thanks Jake Hendry!

What a fantastic weekend of squash at the 2026 WA Squash Country Week Teams Tournament!

This year was especially significant as we celebrated the 60th year of Country Week. It was a wonderful opportunity to reflect on the history, traditions and memories that have made this event so special over the decades. We hope to continue building on that legacy for another 60 years of Country Week.

A history wall featuring photos from across the decades gave everyone an opportunity to reflect and spot some familiar faces. Players were also asked how many Country Weeks they had attended, with many celebrating their 10th, 20th, 30th and even 40th return! It’s a wonderful testament to what Country Week means to our country squash community.

Sunday night’s 60s-themed celebration provided a fitting way to mark the milestone. Groovy costumes, a photobooth and live music made for a memorable evening, topped off by another delicious cook-up from the Mirrabooka Squash Club.

The weekend brought together 11 different clubs from across the state, with more than 160 competitors taking to the courts and representing their clubs with plenty of skill, competitiveness and sportsmanship.

The camaraderie and friendship, mixed with plenty of healthy competition, was on show all weekend. There were some excellent matches of squash on display, reminding us what Country Week is all about.

A huge thank you goes to the Country Week Steering Committee for the countless hours spent preparing for the tournament over the past few months, and to every volunteer, official, player and supporter who contributed to its success.

To the sponsors TJM 4x4 Equip, Premier Smash Repair, Peter Rundle MLA, M & V Ranieri Building Contractors and Harcher. Their generosity helps keep Country Week going year after year.

A special thank you to Grints for the tireless work that went into putting the draw together.

We also acknowledge Neil Butler, who once again took on the role of Tournament Referee, and Josie Jones, who tackled the tough job of Tournament Director. Their time, organisation and commitment helped keep everything running smoothly throughout the weekend.

And finally, a big thank you to the Mirrabooka Squash Club and Kane and all his staff at Squashworld Mirrabooka, who worked tirelessly to keep everyone fed, hydrated and looked after throughout the weekend. Your hospitality was very much appreciated.
